How Apprentice Connect works
Apprentice Connect isn't a jobs board. Here's exactly what happens, step by step, for candidates and for employers.
For candidates
Step 1: Choose your apprenticeship
Choose the type of apprenticeship you want to apply for. One application covers one apprenticeship.
Step 2: Choose your employers
Choose up to 5 employers you'd be interested in working with, and the locations that suit you. You don't have to put them in order.
Step 3: Complete your application and assessment
Tell us about yourself and complete your Apprentice Connect assessment.
Step 4: Review your choices
Later in the process, we'll ask you to review your employer choices.
Step 5: Employer matching
If you move to the next stage, we'll use your application and assessment to help match you with participating employers.
Step 6: Interviews and offers
Employers may invite you for interview and can make apprenticeship offers. You have 48 hours to respond to an offer.
For employers
Step 1: Register and be approved
Register your organisation; our team reviews and approves it before any candidate data is shared.
Step 2: Confirm participation
Participation is free for this pilot. Your place is confirmed once a Super Admin approves your registration.
Step 3: Set up recruitment
Declare apprenticeship types, locations, work patterns and vacancy numbers.
Step 4: Receive your shortlist
When a round is released you receive up to five active shortlisted candidates per pool, where enough eligible candidates are available, plus a reserve pool.
Step 5: Interview
Invite candidates to interview. Contact details are released to you at that point, and record the outcome afterwards.
Step 6: Offer and place
Make formal offers, then track acceptance, commencement and six-month retention.
Keeping it fair
To keep the process fair, we don't publish the detail of how matching works. Matching is run and reviewed by our team — it is not automated decision-making by artificial intelligence.
